The causes of water seepage in the duckbill valve and how to deal with it

2024-12-26

The main causes of water seepage in duckbill valves include the following:

1. Poor sealing: Aging or damage to the sealing gasket or foreign matter stuck on the sealing surface will lead to poor sealing between the duckbill valve and the valve body, resulting in water seepage.
2. Material damage: Long-term use, media corrosion or improper installation may lead to material damage to the duckbill valve, which in turn causes water seepage.
3. Improper installation: If the correct operation process is not followed during the installation process, such as not tightening the screws, the interface is not aligned, etc., it may cause water seepage of the valve.
4. Water flow impact: In the sea discharge project or large drainage pumping station, the speed and pressure of the water flow may be very large, causing a strong impact on the rubber valve body structural parts, resulting in wear, deformation or falling off.
5. Blockage and impurities: impurities, scale, etc. accumulated at the inlet or inside may cause the valve to fail to open or close normally.
6. Material aging: Rubber and other elastic materials may appear aging during long-term use, losing their original elasticity and toughness, resulting in the valve not working normally.

Preventive and treatment measures include:
1. Replace the duckbill valve and valve body: Select the rubber material that matches the working conditions for replacement.
2. Regular inspection and maintenance: Regularly check the material condition and installation of the duckbill valve, replace and maintain it if necessary.
