Why does the PTFE lined bellows corrode?

2024-12-12

      1. Chemical corrosion: When the PTFE-lined bellows contain acidic or alkaline substances in the conveying medium, these chemicals will react with the PTFE-lined pipe, resulting in corrosion. For example, strong acids such as hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid, as well as strong bases such as sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide, can cause corrosion.
      2. High temperature influence: In a high-temperature environment, PTFE-lined materials are prone to thermal expansion and contraction, resulting in cracks and oxidation, thereby causing corrosion. Especially in the environment of high temperature, humidity and sufficient oxygen, oxidative corrosion is more serious
      3. Design defects: Design defects or problems in the manufacturing process of bellows may also lead to corrosion during its use. For example, the inadequate design of the expansion section of the bellows or the defects in the manufacturing process will affect its corrosion resistance
